Sonora Bahia celebrates 10 years with free music festival

The Sonora Bahia festival is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a series of 15 free shows featuring 32 female musicians and composers. The circuit will take place in September across Vale do Capão (September 4-5), Ilhéus (September 17-18), and Salvador (September 25).

Since beginning its activities in Bahia in 2017, the project has hosted over 300 composers and facilitated the performance of more than 1,000 original works. The initiative aims to promote female authorship through a combination of musical performances, professional training, workshops, and networking opportunities for women in the music industry.

In addition to the concerts, the festival includes educational activities, gender debates, and environmental education. This year's edition honors singer, composer, and pianist Manuela Rodrigues.
