Sonora electricity subsidy to end on October 31

The electricity tariff subsidy in Sonora, Mexico, is scheduled to conclude on October 31. The seven-month support program, which began on April 1, was implemented through an agreement between the State Government and the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) to mitigate the economic impact of high energy consumption during the summer heat.

Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño noted that this administration extended the subsidy period compared to previous years, when support typically began in May. The agreement also restructured billing tiers to allow for higher kilowatt usage at preferential rates. As the subsidy period ends, authorities are urging citizens to practice responsible energy consumption to avoid increased costs during the upcoming winter months.
