Sonora expands public services and healthcare infrastructure

The Sonora Atiende program recently expanded its reach to Ures, providing free government services and medical consultations to residents of Ures, Carbó, Opodepe, Rayón, and San Miguel de Horcasitas. This initiative, led by Governor Alfonso Durazo Montañol, aims to bring public services directly to families to reduce travel time and expenses associated with traveling to Hermosillo.

Services provided during the regional session included the free issuance of certificates, information on scholarships and educational credits, legal assistance, medical consultations, vaccinations, pet deworming, housing advice, and social program orientation. The program is part of a broader effort involving over 522 million pesos across 792 federal and state programs and works in the five municipalities.

In Ciudad Obregón, the Issste Clinic Hospital has undergone operating room renovations to expand the variety of surgical procedures available locally. Director Luis Alberto Ariel Villanueva Egan stated that these improvements aim to reduce the need for patients to be transferred to Hermosillo for surgery and will eventually include new surgical alternatives in the unit's service catalog.
