Sonora Governor Alfonso Durazo expands Agroson credit program to 1,000 loans

Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño of Sonora announced the delivery of the program's one‑thousandth Agroson credit, committing to double the fund’s resources. The credits, financed through a 144 million‑peso trust, support small producers in agriculture, livestock, fisheries and apiculture, benefitting roughly 5,800 farmers and entrepreneurs across the state.

Beneficiaries praised the assistance, with producer Jesús Madrid Villarreal from Nácori Chico saying, “Un gran apoyo, de verdad.” Others, such as Nidia Luz Quijada and Mónica Elvira Romero García, highlighted how the loans enabled equipment purchases, process upgrades and expanded production, contributing to rural economic development in Sonora.
