Sonora Governor Alfonso Durazo Opens 206 New and Renovated Sports Facilities

Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño announced the completion of 206 sports spaces—including 28 newly built courts and 163 rehabilitated ones—across 22 municipalities in Sonora. The project was financed with a joint investment of 112.3 million pesos, split between 52.3 million from the state and 60 million from the federal Sedatu program.

Durazo highlighted that the facilities are intended to provide safe venues for children, youth and families to practice sport and strengthen community ties. The governor signed agreements with the mayors of all 22 municipalities to ensure the new courts, such as those at La Sauceda, Laguna del Náinari and Parque Ostimuri in Obregón, become operational promptly.

“These spaces are more than infrastructure; they are places where girls and boys can play, train and socialize while families regain public areas for gathering,” Durazo said during the opening ceremony.
