Sonora Governor honors female researchers with new state award

The Governor of Sonora, Alfonso Durazo Montaño, established the 'Premio Estatal Mujeres que Transforman el Conocimiento' (State Women Who Transform Knowledge Award). This initiative aims to recognize and promote the work of female researchers in Sonora who contribute to substantive equality and the eradication of structural inequalities through their projects.

During the inaugural ceremony, which included over 200 women, three winners were selected to receive recognition and an individual economic stimulus of 100,000 pesos. The governor emphasized that the award serves to make women's scientific work a reference point for new generations, noting that the creation of knowledge should be visible as a female-led endeavor.
