Sonora hosts fifth Gran Carrera del Desierto in Puerto Peñasco

The fifth edition of the Gran Carrera del Desierto took place in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, attracting more than 600 athletes to compete in ultra-trail races. The event featured distances of 5, 10, 25, and 50 kilometers, allowing participants to traverse the region's diverse desert ecosystems.

Organized by the Sonora state government through the Secretariat of Economy and Tourism (SETUR), the competition aims to promote adventure tourism and showcase the state's natural landscapes. Since its inception in 2022, the event has seen a cumulative total of over 2,600 runners. This year's edition included participants from 13 countries: Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Spain, the United States, France, Guatemala, Italy, Mexico, and Peru.
