Sonora weightlifters win 19 medals at National Championship

The Sonora weightlifting delegation secured 19 medals at the National First Force Championship held in Villahermosa, Tabasco. The haul included five gold, seven silver, and seven bronze medals.

National team members and international medalists Noemí Rodríguez and Naomi Montes led the performance, each earning three medals. Rodríguez secured two golds in the snatch and total categories, while Montes earned two golds and one silver. Other notable performers included Enrique Martínez, who won one gold and one bronze, and Ihann Barreras, who earned three silver medals.

The 2026 National First Force Weightlifting Championship served as a selection event for the IWF World Championships scheduled to take place in Ningbo, China, later this year.
