Sonos announces Sonos 27 OS, Beam Ultra soundbar, and Ace Ultra headphones
Sonos has announced the launch of Sonos 27, its next-generation audio operating system, which introduces expanded AI capabilities and an open platform approach. The new OS allows users to integrate external AI agents, including OpenAI’s ChatGPT, via the Sonos 27mcp feature, alongside a proprietary assistant, Sonos 27voice, designed for music selection and mood creation.
Alongside the software update, the company unveiled two new flagship hardware products: the Beam Ultra soundbar and the Ace Ultra headphones. The Beam Ultra is a mid-size soundbar featuring nine custom drivers, including two up-firing units to support true 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos. It also includes AI-driven speech enhancement technology to improve dialogue clarity.
The Sonos Ace Ultra headphones feature Adaptive ANC powered by ten microphones and a new Headphone Engine 2. This technology enables ‘Headphone Linking,’ allowing users to seamlessly hand over audio from the headphones to other Wi-Fi-capable Sonos speakers within their home system. Both the Beam Ultra and Ace Ultra are currently available for pre-order.
