Sonu Nigam clarifies viral video regarding Salman Khan's singing

Playback singer Sonu Nigam has clarified that a viral video appearing to show him mocking Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s singing is fake. The edited clip juxtaposed Salman Khan’s rendition of the song ‘Main Hoon Hero Tera’ with a video of Nigam making expressive gestures, leading social media users to believe the singer was ‘roasting’ the actor.

Nigam addressed the misinformation on Instagram, stating that the footage was originally his reaction to a performance by a young Pakistani singer, Hadiya Hashmi, in 2020. He noted, “Can expect the unexpected on internet. I stumbled upon this edited video. This was my reaction for a Pakistani little girl singer.”

While Nigam has previously expressed nuanced views regarding the trend of actors performing their own playback songs, he emphasized that professional singing is a specialized craft requiring extensive training and dedication.
