Sony and Panasonic to withdraw from CES 2027
Sony and Panasonic have announced they will not have a presence at CES 2027, marking the end of a nearly 60-year history with the Consumer Electronics Show. Sony, which has participated since 1967, is shifting its strategic focus toward entertainment, intellectual property, and technologies designed for professional audiovisual creators rather than consumer hardware.
This shift includes a move away from traditional consumer electronics like televisions and audio systems in favor of content and professional tools. For the PlayStation division, the decision reflects a preference for utilizing proprietary communication channels rather than large-scale industry trade shows. This departure comes at a time when the industry is seeing a broader trend of major manufacturers moving away from traditional exhibition models in favor of direct-to-consumer engagement.
