Sony announces first full-frame FE 8-14mm F3.5 Fisheye G zoom lens
Sony has announced the release of its first full-frame E-mount fisheye zoom lens, the FE 8-14mm F3.5 Fisheye G (SEL814G). Scheduled for release on October 9, the lens offers a versatile zoom range that allows photographers to switch between circular fisheye and diagonal fisheye perspectives.
At the 8mm focal length, the lens provides a 180-degree field of view that projects a circular image onto the sensor. At 14mm, it transitions to a diagonal fisheye mode that fills the entire frame. The lens is designed for various applications, including landscape, architecture, sports, and video production. It features an inner zoom mechanism to maintain balance during use with gimbals or rigs.
Technical specifications include a weight of approximately 314g, dust and moisture resistance, and a fluorine coating on the front element. The lens is equipped with two linear motors for fast autofocus and includes a focus hold (FH) mode, which is particularly useful for VR and FPV drone applications. It also features a customizable aperture ring and a zoom lock switch.
