Sony announces lightweight G Master 400mm and 600mm telephoto lenses

Sony Electronics has announced two new G Master super-telephoto prime lenses for the Alpha full-frame E-mount system: the FE 400mm F4.5 GM OSS and the FE 600mm F6.3 GM OSS. Both lenses are designed to be the lightest in their respective categories, weighing approximately 994g and 995g respectively.

Engineered for wildlife and sports photographers, the lenses feature an optimized weight distribution that places the center of gravity closer to the camera body to facilitate handheld shooting. They utilize two XD Linear Motors for fast, quiet, and accurate autofocus, supporting high-speed tracking up to 120 fps. Optical performance is enhanced by three Super ED elements and one ED element to minimize chromatic aberration, alongside Nano AR Coating II to reduce flare and ghosting.

The FE 400mm F4.5 GM OSS is priced at $2,699.99 USD, while the FE 600mm F6.3 GM OSS is priced at $3,699.99 USD. Both models are expected to be available starting in October 2026.
