PlayStation 5 Midnight Black Digital Edition Sony Interactive Entertainment gaming hardware

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced the release of the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition in a new ‘Midnight Black’ color variation. The console is scheduled to launch in Japan on November 19, 2026, with a retail price of 55,000 yen.

This specific model is a Japanese-language exclusive, meaning it can only be used with PlayStation accounts where the language is set to Japanese and the country/region is set to Japan. As a Digital Edition, the console does not include a built-in disc drive; however, a matching ‘Midnight Black’ disc drive will be released on the same day for 11,980 yen.

Pre-orders for both the console and the disc drive are set to begin on October 20, 2026, through various PlayStation retailers and e-commerce sites in Japan.
