Sony begins Android 17 updates for Xperia 1 VIII

Sony has begun rolling out the Android 17 operating system update, starting with its flagship Xperia 1 VIII smartphone. The update, which is approximately 1.2 GB in size, is currently reaching some users in Europe and is expected to expand gradually.

Key features included in the update are the new Android 17 Desktop mode, which allows the device to be connected to an external screen for computer-like use, and enhanced customization options for icons, wallpapers, and clock styles. The quick settings panel has also been redesigned to allow for more flexible resizing and arrangement of tiles.

Additional improvements include enhanced screen recording capabilities, allowing users to record specific apps and include microphone commentary. Sony is also updating its AI Camera Assistant for the Xperia 1 VIII, enabling users to save and quickly switch between up to three custom photography styles. Following the Xperia 1 VIII, the update is expected to arrive for the Xperia 1 VII, Xperia 1 VI, Xperia 10 VIII, and Xperia 10 VII.
