Sony expands macro lens lineup with new FE 100mm and SEL 30mm models

Sony has added two macro lenses to its E‑mount portfolio. The FE 100mm f/2.8 macro GM OSS, aimed at full‑frame users, replaces the earlier 90mm version, carries a $1,500 price tag and offers up to 1.4× native magnification (2.8× with a 2× teleconverter). It features a magnesium‑alloy body, extensive weather sealing, a de‑clickable aperture ring, four linear motors for fast silent autofocus and up to four stops of optical image stabilization.

For APS‑C Alpha NEX cameras, Sony introduced the SEL 30mm f/3.5 macro lens, delivering a true 1:1 magnification ratio. The lens uses aspherical/ED glass, multi‑coating to reduce chromatic aberration, and an internal stepping motor that provides quiet, smooth operation for video. Direct Manual Focus lets users switch from AF to manual focus without re‑locking, and the rear‑focusing design keeps the filter thread stationary during focusing.

Both lenses are positioned as versatile tools for still‑life, insect and close‑up video work, expanding Sony’s macro offering across its camera system.
