Material costs for the console are reported to be near $1,000, and pricing above $700 could jeopardise the installed user base needed for digital revenue. Sony’s PS5 Pro launch at €799 was a test of higher‑price acceptance, and the company continues to partner with AMD and rely on system architect Mark Cerny for the next generation.

In Germany, the DualSense Edge Pro controller for the PS5 has been put on sale, dropping from €219.99 to €164.99 – a 24 % discount of €54. The reduction is offered at Media Markt for a limited, unspecified period and includes the controller’s customizable paddles, trigger adjustments and software settings.
