Sony launches PS5 cloud streaming in South Korea

Sony Interactive Entertainment Korea will officially launch its cloud streaming service for PS5 games in South Korea on October 28. PlayStation Plus Premium members will gain the ability to stream over 300 supported titles from the Game Catalog on PS5 consoles and the PlayStation Portal.

To facilitate the launch, the PlayStation Plus Deluxe plan will transition to the Premium tier starting October 21, with existing Deluxe members receiving an automatic upgrade at no additional cost. This move aims to enhance the value proposition of the subscription service in the region.

Technical specifications for the service vary by device. The PS5 console supports up to 4K resolution at 60Hz in SDR or HDR environments, while the PlayStation Portal supports up to 1080p at 60fps. In South Korea, the initial service scope is limited to digital PS5 games; PS3, PS4, and PS VR2 titles are not supported at this time.

Users can stream supported titles from the Game Catalog, such as ‘Horizon Forbidden West’ and ‘Ghost of Tsushima’, as well as thousands of owned digital PS5 games including ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ and ‘eFootball’.
