Sony launches Xperia 10 VIII mid-range smartphone
Sony is launching the Xperia 10 VIII, a mid-range smartphone designed to prioritize everyday usability and convenience. In Japan, the device will be available through Sony's open market and major carriers like Docomo, KDDI, and SoftBank, with a price of 99,900 yen. While the price has increased compared to its predecessor due to rising component and exchange rate costs, Sony has implemented various cost-cutting measures to keep the device under the 100,000 yen threshold.
A key feature of the new model is the ‘Point & Pay menu,’ a specialized launcher that allows users to quickly access and switch between payment and retail rewards applications. This feature was developed through rigorous testing in simulated convenience store environments to ensure rapid transaction speeds.
In Singapore, the device is priced at S$799 and features a display approximately 50% brighter than the previous model, alongside enhanced stereo speakers with increased volume and bass. The smartphone also integrates Google’s latest AI tools, including Gemini and Circle to Search, and is equipped with a long-life battery designed to maintain performance for up to four years.
