Sony lists nine official E‑mount lens license partners

Sony has published a list of nine companies that are official license partners for its E‑mount system, granting them direct access to the mount’s specifications. The partners are Carl Zeiss AG, Cooke Optics Ltd, Cosina Corp., Fujifilm Holdings Corp., Kenko Tokina Co., LK Samyang Co., Sigma Corp., Tamron Co., and Thales LAS France. None of the partners are based in China; manufacturers such as Viltrox, Venus Optics (Laowa), 7Artisans and TTArtisan are not on the list and must rely on reverse‑engineering the protocol. Sony says partners must meet undisclosed qualification criteria. The disclosure confirms the industry’s view that third‑party lens makers fall into two classes – licensed partners with direct developer contact and non‑licensed makers that develop their own solutions.
