Sony Music Labels announces new Sakamichi group Aobazaka46

Sony Music Labels has announced the establishment of a new Sakamichi-series idol group named ‘Aobazaka46’. The group will consist of members selected through an upcoming audition process.

According to the announcement, Aobazaka46 will operate as a standalone group for approximately one year. Following this period, members will be reassigned to existing groups, specifically as the 7th generation of Nogizaka46, the 5th generation of Sakurazaka46, or the 6th generation of Hinatazaka46.

The audition is open to females aged 12 to 20 as of October 8, 2026, with the application period running until October 8, 2026. To promote the launch, a teaser campaign featuring mysterious advertisements for ‘Aobazaka’ was conducted in Shibuya and via television, followed by a promotional video featuring 12 current members from the three established Sakamichi groups.
