Distributor Row K Entertainment ran into severe financial difficulties in early 2026, leaving it unable to meet creditor demands and forcing the suspension of several projects, including Maude Apatow’s first feature as director, “Poetic License.”

Sony Pictures Classics stepped in to acquire worldwide rights to the film, planning a theatrical release in spring 2027. The comedy‑drama, which premiered to strong reviews at the Toronto International Film Festival, stars Leslie Mann, Cooper Hoffman and Andrew Barth Feldman and follows a former therapist navigating a love triangle in a new town. Sony’s acquisition secures the film’s distribution after the Row K collapse.
