Sony PlayStation 5 faces new jailbreak exploit

A new jailbreak method known as Relapse has emerged for the PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro, targeting consoles running system software versions between 7.00 and 13.60. This exploit utilizes a vulnerability in the console's internet browser to allow the execution of unsigned software and homebrew applications.

Concerns regarding console bans have surfaced following reports of users encountering error code WS-116332-6. While some users suggest this indicates a permanent ban, Sony's documentation notes that the code can also signify temporary server issues. However, the code does indeed indicate that access to PlayStation services has been blocked, which can occur due to violations of service terms regarding modified software.

Sony's licensing agreements grant the company the authority to terminate access to PlayStation services for consoles using modified software. The vulnerability exploited by the Relapse method is not present in the 14.00 system software update.
