Sony PlayStation 6 and Microsoft Project Helix projected $600‑800 launch prices

Analysts from S&P Global Market Intelligence’s Kagan division project that Sony’s next‑gen PlayStation 6 and Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox “Project Helix” will be priced between $600 and $800 at launch. The forecast notes that the current console market faces declining shipments, with total hardware sales expected to drop 19.5% in 2026 to 33.9 million units and fall further to about 27.1 million in 2027.

The report expects a recovery once component shortages ease, projecting global console shipments rising to 37.4 million by 2030. Specific sales forecasts include a first‑year (2028) sale of 4 million PlayStation 6 units, climbing to 17.2 million by 2030, and 2 million Project Helix units in its first year, reaching 7.3 million in 2030. For context, current prices for the PlayStation 5 sit at $599 and the Xbox Series X at $750.

These estimates suggest that affordable pricing could help reverse the market downturn, provided supply chain constraints improve before 2028.
