Sony PlayStation pledges continued games‑as‑a‑service investment and teases portable PS6

Sony Interactive Entertainment President Hideaki Nishino said PlayStation will keep expanding its games‑as‑a‑service (GaaS) portfolio, citing the need for continual content to attract a global audience. The company plans to launch its own service title, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, and will consider multi‑platform releases for PS5 and PC, while single‑player titles stay console‑exclusive. Nishino also hinted at a future portable PlayStation 6 and related hardware such as monitors and speakers, noting the brand’s effort to adapt to changing gaming lifestyles.

The strategy is presented as a way to diversify PlayStation’s catalogue, compete with rivals like Xbox and Epic Games, and keep players engaged over longer periods, despite mixed reactions from parts of the community who prefer traditional narrative‑driven experiences.
