Sony registers new camera in China, fueling Alpha 7S IV rumors
Sony Japan has registered a new, unannounced camera in China under the code WW261362. The registration includes Wi-Fi 6 support, a feature typically reserved for mid- to high-end models.
Industry speculation suggests the device is likely the Sony Alpha 7S IV. While other potential successors in the Alpha lineup could be candidates, current release cycles suggest they are not yet due for updates. The rumored Alpha 7S IV is expected to share technical specifications with the recently announced FX5, such as a 16MP stacked sensor, processor, IBIS, and autofocus systems, though it would likely include a built-in electronic viewfinder and differ in internal RAW codec capabilities.
The timing of a potential launch follows the July 2026 introduction of the Sony FX5, which has faced availability issues due to manufacturing challenges.
