Sony reportedly developing live-action ‘Kaiju No. 8’ adaptation

Sony is reportedly developing a live-action adaptation of the manga and anime series ‘Kaiju No. 8’. While the studio has not officially confirmed the project, industry reports suggest a potential film or series is in development.

Created by Naoya Matsumoto, the story follows Kafka Hibino, a man who gains the ability to transform into a kaiju and joins a defense force to fight monsters. The manga has achieved significant commercial success, with over 18 million copies in circulation. Sony is well-positioned to handle the property, as its Crunchyroll division streams the anime and Sony Pictures has managed previous theatrical releases for the franchise.
