Sony develops revised DualSense Edge with replaceable battery
Sony is reportedly developing a revised version of its DualSense Edge controller for the PlayStation 5, which may feature a user-replaceable battery. This follows the original CFI-ZCP1 model released in early 2023.
The move is likely driven by new European Union regulations (EU 2023/1542) regarding batteries and replaceable parts. These laws, set to take effect in February 2027, require that portable batteries in consumer electronics be easily removable and replaceable by the end user using standard tools without specialized equipment.
