Sony announces Xperia launch event for August 25
Sony has announced a digital launch event scheduled for August 25 at 11:00 AM JST, to be streamed live on YouTube. While the company has not officially named the device, industry leaks and recent technical filings strongly suggest the announcement will focus on the mid-range Xperia 10 VIII.
Technical leaks from Geekbench and FCC filings indicate the new model may feature a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset and 8GB of RAM, mirroring the specifications of its predecessor, the Xperia 10 VII. The device is also expected to retain several enthusiast-friendly features, including a 3.5mm headphone jack and Wi-Fi 6 support.
This launch represents an accelerated release schedule compared to last year, when the previous model arrived in September. Although the device has appeared in regulatory filings, there are indications it may skip the US market, as IMEI database listings have not yet shown specific US model numbers.
