Sony to launch Xperia 10 VIII smartphone in Japan

Sony has announced the domestic launch of its mid-range Xperia 10 VIII smartphone, scheduled for release on October 8, 2026. The device features a 6.1-inch OLED display with 50% higher brightness than its predecessor, a 5000mAh battery, and a new ‘Point & Pay Menu’ that allows users to quickly launch payment and loyalty apps by double-pressing the power button.

To coincide with the launch, Sony is introducing ‘Fan Sync,’ a new service that allows users to customize their phone’s wallpaper and charging sounds using NFC-enabled physical cards. The first wave of collaborations includes the anime ‘Demon Slayer’ and Sanrio’s ‘Hello Kitty.’

A limited-edition Hello Kitty collaboration model is also available through Sony Store, featuring the smartphone alongside exclusive original goods such as a sacoche and a tote bag. For the ‘Demon Slayer’ theme, Sony is offering Fan Sync cards to the first 20,000 customers who purchase the device during the promotional period.
