Sony to skip CES 2027 amid PlayStation supply challenges
Sony is reportedly planning to skip the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in 2027, marking the first time the company has opted out of the event since 1967. According to Bloomberg, the decision stems from a strategic shift to focus more heavily on the company’s entertainment division rather than consumer electronics hardware.
Simultaneously, the company is facing significant supply chain challenges regarding its PlayStation hardware. Despite previous assurances regarding memory chip supplies, reports indicate that component shortages are impacting the availability of consoles. In Japan, access to the PlayStation 5 Pro is expected to be highly restricted, with Sony implementing a lottery system and requiring customers to prove active engagement on previous PlayStation platforms to qualify for purchases.
