Sony launches 1000X The Collexion premium headphones for 10‑year anniversary
Sony announced the 1000X The Collexion, a limited‑edition over‑ear headset released to mark the tenth anniversary of its 1000X series. The headphones are priced around €629–€650 ($649) and are built with premium materials – faux‑leather padding, sand‑blasted stainless‑steel frames and metal buttons – intended to give a more luxurious look and feel than the recent WH‑1000XM6.
Design changes include a wider, thicker headband, slimmer ear cups, and a non‑folding chassis. Internally the model retains the QN3 noise‑cancelling chip and 12‑microphone Multi‑Noise Sensor from the XM6, but Sony notes that passive fit is less tight, so ANC performance is marginally lower. Battery life is 24 hours with ANC on (up to 32 hours without), and charging is USB‑C only.
Audio upgrades feature a bespoke unidirectional carbon‑fiber driver, DSEE Ultimate AI upscaling and three 360 Reality Audio upmix modes (Music, Cinema, Gaming) accessed via a dedicated button. The headphones ship in black and platinum, become available in May 2026, and are positioned as a luxury halo product rather than a technical replacement for the XM6.
