Sony unveils premium Walkman digital audio players
Sony has announced a new lineup of high-end digital Walkman players designed for audiophiles, featuring the flagship NW-WM1ZM3, the NW-WM1AM3, and the NW-ZX900. The devices utilize advanced audio engineering, including the S-Master HX digital amplifier and a DSD Remastering Engine that converts PCM audio into an 11.2 MHz DSD stream.
The flagship NW-WM1ZM3 is constructed with a precision-machined, gold-plated chassis made from 99.99% pure oxygen-free copper. It incorporates premium internal components such as thick Kimber Kable wiring and large solid high-polymer capacitors to minimize noise and stabilize power delivery. The NW-WM1AM3 features an aluminum-alloy main chassis with a gold-plated copper rear panel, while the NW-ZX900 utilizes a machined aluminum body.
All models run on the Android operating system and include features such as 4.4 mm balanced headphone outputs and high-resolution playback support. The flagship model is priced at approximately $5,899 USD, with the other models retailing for $2,999.99 and $1,899.99 respectively. Shipments are expected to begin in late 2026 and early 2027.
