Sony unveils WH‑1000X The Collexion luxury headphones
Sony announced the WH‑1000X The Collexion, a limited‑edition over‑ear headset released to mark the 10‑year anniversary of its flagship 1000X series. The headphones feature a metal headband with a sand‑blasted finish, premium artificial leather ear‑cups and stainless‑steel buttons. Internally they use a new carbon‑composite driver and retain the same adaptive noise‑cancelling chipset as the WH‑1000XM6, complemented by a 12‑microphone Multi‑Noise‑Sensor system.
The model adds Sony’s DSEE‑Ultimate AI upscaler and three 360 Upmix modes that convert stereo, film and game audio into a more spacious sound field. Battery life is rated up to 24 hours. Pricing is set at €630 (about 7 490 NOK), positioning the headset as a luxury alternative to the regular 1000X line.
Reviews from Norway and Germany note that while the build quality and aesthetics are markedly upgraded, the acoustic performance and ANC remain largely unchanged from the WH‑1000XM6. Critics point to the high price as the main deterrent, suggesting the purchase decision is driven more by design and brand prestige than by audible improvements.
