Sony wins Emmy Award for contributions to NMOS broadcast standards
Sony has received the 77th Annual Technology & Engineering Emmy Award from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) for its contributions to the Networked Media Open Specifications (NMOS).
Sony shared the award with the Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA), the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), and Streampunk Media Ltd. The recognition honors their collective work in establishing NMOS as the industry-standard control framework for networked live production.
NMOS is a suite of open specifications that allows video and audio equipment from different manufacturers to be discovered, registered, and controlled within IP-based workflows. This interoperability is critical for broadcast studios and mobile production vehicles as the industry transitions away from traditional hardware toward networked environments. Sony has integrated NMOS into various products, including its HDC series cameras, XVS series switchers, and BVM series professional monitors.
