Sony's Marvel's Wolverine censored in Middle East for LGBTQ+ content

Reports indicate that regional versions of the video game ‘Marvel’s Wolverine’ have been altered to censor LGBTQ+ content in Middle Eastern markets. Players have identified specific modifications regarding the relationship between the characters Mystique and Tyger Tiger.

According to player reports and social media documentation, a wedding photograph featuring the two characters is blurred or pixelated in certain versions. Additionally, when characters use terms such as ‘wife’ or discuss their relationship, the audio cuts out and subtitles replace the dialogue with asterisks.

While specific territories have not been officially confirmed by Sony or Insomniac Games, players in Lebanon have reported these changes, and the modifications appear to target regions where same-sex relationships are subject to legal restrictions. This follows similar patterns in previous titles, such as ‘Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’, where rainbow flags and specific character subplots were reportedly removed for the same market.
