Sooke runner to complete 250-km challenge for suicide prevention
Manuel DusSault Gomez, a resident of Sooke, is preparing to run 250 kilometres over five days to raise funds for NEED2 Suicide Prevention, Education & Support. Scheduled from October 17 to 21, the challenge follows the Pacific Marine Circle Route, encompassing 158 kilometres of trails and 92 kilometres of paved roads, with a total elevation gain of 5,431 metres.
DusSault Gomez has raised over $1,000 so far, with the Aqueduct Foundation pledging to match donations up to $5,000. The run will pass through Sooke, Jordan River, Port Renfrew, Lake Cowichan, and Langford. To emphasize the importance of social connection in mental health, the five-day format allows friends, family, and community members to join him for various sections of the route.
