Sookmyung Women's University hosts 17th University Ranking Forum

Sookmyung Women's University hosted the 17th University Ranking Forum of Korea (URFK) to discuss the evolving landscape of global university evaluations. The forum, themed ‘Better Universities, Better Futures’, brought together approximately 130 experts, including university presidents, higher education specialists, and representatives from major global ranking agencies.

Key discussions focused on how university assessments are shifting from purely quantitative research metrics to a more comprehensive evaluation of research quality, international collaboration, global reputation, and social and economic impact. A significant portion of the forum addressed how these evaluation methodologies must adapt in the era of Artificial Intelligence.

Representatives from prominent organizations such as Elsevier, Times Higher Education (THE), and QS participated in sessions covering research excellence, global reputation, and the integration of regional impact into global recognition. The event aimed to help Korean universities develop strategies to enhance their global competitiveness amidst these changing standards.
