Soongsil University Mungyeong campus establishment cancelled

The establishment of a Soongsil University campus in Mungyeong has been cancelled. Mungyeong Mayor Kim Hak-hong recently met with Soongsil University President Lee Yoon-jae to discuss the outcome and explore alternative ways to maintain cooperation between the city and the university.

While the campus project, which was a key campaign promise for the current administration, faced difficulties due to internal university conditions and board decisions, both parties agreed to pursue collaborative projects. This includes linking the Soongsil Unification Leadership Training Center in Hogye-myeon with student programs, allowing freshmen to participate in local tourism and cultural experiences in Mungyeong.
