Sooraj Pancholi objects to “unanswered” tag after acquittal in Jiah Khan case

Actor Sooraj Pancholi used Instagram to protest the “unanswered” label attached to actress Jiah Khan’s 2013 death, despite his acquittal by a special CBI court in April 2023. He said he spent 14 years defending his innocence, noting that the case was decided on factual evidence and that he has never spoken publicly about Khan’s personal struggles out of respect for her privacy. Pancholi urged the public and media to present the full story with honesty and sensitivity, emphasizing that he should be afforded the same fairness he sought for Khan.

Jiah Khan was found dead in her Mumbai apartment on 3 June 2013. The death was initially ruled a suicide, but her mother alleged murder, leading to charges of abetment to suicide against Pancholi, which were later dismissed.
