Sophia Forrester's Relationship OCD Triggers Cheating Fears and Social Isolation

Sophia Forrester, a 24‑year‑old waitress from Leeds, West Yorkshire, was diagnosed with relationship‑type obsessive‑compulsive disorder (ROCD) in December 2025 after entering what she described as her first healthy partnership. The condition produced intrusive thoughts that she might cheat on her boyfriend, leading her to believe she was a “bad person” and to constantly imagine worst‑case scenarios.

The anxiety caused her to withdraw from friends, avoid the gym and miss social outings for at least four months. She experienced weight loss, reduced work performance, and spent hours consulting ChatGPT for reassurance. Treatment began in April 2025 with therapy and the SSRI citalopram, and she reported significant improvement by late 2025. In November 2025 she started sharing her experience on social media to help others facing similar ROCD symptoms.

Forrester said, “I know deep down I would never cheat… My brain is convincing me of these worst‑case scenarios.” Her story highlights growing awareness of relationship OCD as a distinct subtype of OCD.
