Sophia Loren's Appia Antica villa returns to market

The villa on the Appia Antica in Rome, formerly owned by Sophia Loren and Carlo Ponti, has returned to the luxury real estate market. Managed by Italy Sotheby’s International Realty, the property is being offered via private negotiation, though reports suggest the price may range between 15 and 20 million euros.

The residence spans approximately 700 square meters across two levels and is set within an 11,000-square-meter private park. Designed by architect Andrea Busiri Vici, the estate features five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a library, a winter garden, and three salons with fireplaces. The property also includes former stables that have been converted into a 467-square-meter space for events and receptions.

A notable architectural feature is a dining room carved into an ancient Roman basalt quarry, which contains an original mosaic depicting Medusa. Historically, the villa served as a gathering place for cinematic icons, including Federico Fellini, Kirk Douglas, and Anthony Quinn.
