Sophia Loren's historic Roman villa listed for sale

The historic villa formerly owned by Sophia Loren and Carlo Ponti is back on the luxury real estate market in Rome. Located near the Appia Antica, the property is being offered through Italy Sotheby’s International Realty, with an estimated asking price between 15 and 20 million euros.

Designed by architect Andrea Busiri Vici on an ancient Roman basalt quarry, the residence spans approximately 700 square meters across two levels. The estate includes five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, three salons with fireplaces, a library, and a winter garden. The house is surrounded by an 11,000-square-meter private park.

A notable architectural feature is the dining room, which is set within an ancient Roman cave and contains an original mosaic depicting the head of Medusa. The property has been listed previously, including a 2018 attempt to sell the estate for 19 million euros.
