SophiaTerra AI platform wins Top of the PID 2026 award
SophiaTerra, an artificial intelligence platform designed for agricultural management, has won first place in the ‘Innovative Use Cases’ category at the Top of the PID 2026 awards. The award, presented by Unioncamere and the Digital Enterprise Points (PID) network of the Chambers of Commerce, recognizes excellence in digital transformation among micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.
Developed by Giovanni Battista Obletter for his organic farm in the Abruzzo region of Italy, the platform integrates field management, bureaucracy, and accounting. It allows farmers to monitor business operations 24/7 via computer, smartphone, or Telegram. Key features include the automated compilation of electronic field notebooks—which will become mandatory for phytosanitary product users in 2027—estimating CAP (Common Agricultural Policy) contributions, and monitoring weather windows for treatments.
The platform was tested on 49 hectares in the provinces of Pescara, specifically in Cepagatti, Pianella, and Moscufo. Following its success at the Maker Faire Rome event, plans are underway to establish a dedicated company to expand testing to other regional farms.
