Sophie Cunningham's anti‑trans rally fizzles outside Seattle Storm game

A small anti‑trans rally was staged outside Climate Pledge Arena before a Seattle Storm versus Indiana Fever WNBA game. Organized by groups Women Are Real, Known Heretic and Seattle influencer Brandi Kruse, the demonstration supported Fever guard Sophie Cunningham and Washington state legislation that would bar transgender girls from school sports. Video posted by local outlet The Burner showed only a few dozen participants.

Cunningham, who previously made anti‑trans comments in an ESPN profile, was booed by fans when she entered the game and again during free‑throw attempts. The Seattle Storm has not commented, but center Stefanie Dolson posted on Instagram wearing a “TRANS RIGHTS ARE HUMAN RIGHTS” tank top. The WNBA also declined to issue a statement.

The rally highlighted ongoing cultural and policy debates over transgender participation in sports, but its limited attendance suggests minimal immediate impact on the broader conversation.
