Sophie Fillières' final film ‘Ma vie Ma gueule’ to air on Arte
The final film of French director Sophie Fillières, titled ‘Ma vie Ma gueule’ (2024), is set to be broadcast on Arte. The film, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in the Quinzaine des cinéastes section, is an autobiographical comedy-drama starring Agnès Jaoui.
Fillières passed away shortly after completing the filming of this seventh feature, having worked on the project while aware of her illness. Her children, Agathe and Adam Bonitzer, oversaw the editing process to complete the work. The story follows Barberie Bichette, a 55-year-old woman navigating life's anxieties and fears of mortality. The film is described as a blend of burlesque and gravity, utilizing sharp dialogue to depict the protagonist's journey through collapse and reconstruction.
