Sophie Marceau announces new autobiographical book ‘Warszawa’
French actress and director Sophie Marceau has announced the release of her new book, titled ‘Warszawa’, scheduled for publication on October 29, 2026. The work is described as an autobiographical narrative that blends fiction and poetry, framed as a ‘long letter to the man of her life’.
The book focuses on Marceau’s seventeen-year relationship with the late Polish filmmaker Andrzej Żuławski. Marceau met Żuławski in 1984 when she was 18 years old and he was 43. The narrative explores their connection, their son Vincent, and the intellectual and emotional impact of their relationship during a period when communism still heavily influenced life in Warsaw.
According to the official synopsis, the book examines how the relationship evolved from a source of empowerment and cultural escape into one characterized by obsession and control.
