Sophie Molineux guides Southern Brave to Women's Hundred win over Welsh Fire

Australia’s T20 World Cup‑winning captain Sophie Molineux captained the Southern Brave women’s side to an eight‑run victory against Welsh Fire in the English Women’s Hundred competition. The match, played at the Rose Bowl in Southampton, saw the Brave post 126 runs, anchored by an unbeaten 45 from South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt and a 31 from Lizelle Lee. Molineux contributed a quick 22 before being stumped, while her bowling (3‑14) helped restrict Welsh Fire to 118.

Molineux, newly appointed Brave skipper after leading Australia to the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup title, praised the squad’s depth and the positive atmosphere surrounding the tournament’s new ownership structure. The win followed a strong start to the season for the Brave, who were tournament winners in 2023 and semi‑finalists the previous year.
