Sophie Munro signs contract extension with Essex Women

Essex Women’s seam bowler Sophie Munro has signed a two-year contract extension, committing to the club until the end of the 2028 season. The 25-year-old joined Essex from The Blaze in 2025.

Munro has recorded 12 wickets in 50-over competition and 13 wickets in T20 cricket for the side. A notable performance included her best figures of 3-33 against Northamptonshire in the Vitality County Cup quarter-final, which helped secure Essex Women’s place at the County Cup Finals Day. Additionally, she was part of the Trent Rockets squad that won The Hundred this year as an injury replacement.

Head Coach Stephen Parry expressed satisfaction with the extension, noting Munro’s skill and ability to take important wickets. Munro stated she is excited to continue her development and hopes to see the squad compete for trophies in the coming years.
