Sophocles’ Antigone returns to Kalamata for summer tour

Sophocles’ tragedy ‘Antigone’, directed by Themis Moumoulidis, is returning for its second summer tour. Following a run that drew over 50,000 spectators, the production will be staged at the Open Theatre in Kalamata on Monday, December 17, at 21:00.

The production features Lena Papaligoura in the title role, Meletis Elias as Creon, and Michalis Oikonomou as the guard. This modern interpretation explores timeless themes of freedom, justice, and individual responsibility against authority, set against a contemporary backdrop of modern decision-making centers and systemic conflicts.
